Netflix Pricing Changes
Netflix offers three main subscription plans in the US: Standard with Ads, Standard, and Premium.
Standard with Ads is the most affordable plan, but it includes ads that play during breaks. You can watch in 1080p (Full HD) simultaneously on up to two devices.
The standard plan is ad-free but similar to the Standard with Ads plan. This plan also supports 1080p (Full HD) and can be used on two devices at a time.
Premium is the most expensive plan. It offers 4K (Ultra HD) with HDR quality and supports streaming on up to six devices at once.
All subscription plans are billed monthly.
Plan name, features, and pricing vary by country and currency. In most countries, Netflix also offers a Basic plan that supports one device, is ad-free, and streams in 720p (HD). However, in the U.S., the Standard with Ads plan is the cheapest available plan.

Observation
The ad supported subscription plan was introduced in September 2024 in the US. Prior to that, all plans were ad free.
2009 and prior years, the subscription price was high because Netflix only had one pricing plan and was a platform for renting DVDs.
