Philo Update on Subscription Price Increase Due to HBO Max and discovery+ Addition
Philo update on subscription price increase due to the addition of (HBO Max Basic With Ads plan and discovery+) on September 30, 2025. A screenshot of the update is available below.
Philo’s subscription will increase by $5, from $28 to $33, starting September 30, 2025. Philo says that current subscribers will continue to receive services at the current rate for one month. The price will then increase to $33 plus taxes on your next bill after October 30. For new customers, the price increase takes effect immediately.
Users on legacy plans will need to upgrade to Philo Core to access HBO Max Basic With Ads and discovery+. Existing core subscribers who want to keep Philo Core subscription without HBO Max or discovery+ (to avoid the additional cost) will have no option but be automatically updated to the new $33 plan after October 30.
If you already have a direct HBO Max or discovery+ subscription, you can activate HBO Max Basic With Ads through Philo by creating an account using the same email address as your existing HBO Max or discovery+ account. You will then see a pop-up to link your account to Philo, and Philo will become your biller. If you do not link the accounts, you may be billed twice. Learn more about this process here.
