Discovery+ Canada App is Shutting Down, All Subscriptions to End in 2026
Discovery+ just sent an email to users in Canada notifying them that the current app is shutting down and will be replaced with a new app starting January 14, 2026. Below is a screenshot of the email.
Discovery+ subscriptions in Canada will stop renewing on January 14, 2025, but you will be able to continue watching until the end of your current billing period. After that, you will be required to subscribe with a new account managed by Rogers Sports and Media. For now, the FAQ linked in the email states that the subscription price will remain the same and nothing much will change other than ownership. Here is what the email says.
"We're reaching out to let you know that the existing discovery+ service provided by Discovery Digital Ventures, LLC will soon close and no longer be available in Canada.
We won't charge you again after January 14, 2026, and your subscription will end when your next billing period is over. You can continue to enjoy discovery+ until then.
Keep in mind that after January 14, you may not be able to download the existing discovery+ app on any new devices, but you can keep enjoying discovery+ on discoveryplus.com or on any device where the app is already installed, until your subscription ends.
The great news is that beginning January 14, 2026, a new discovery+ service provided by Rogers Sports & Media will be available with a new website and app. For more information about subscribing to the new discovery+ service, including how and when you can subscribe, visit discoveryplus.ca/comingsoon."
