Sacramento Update on Parking Fees Increase for EVs on August 1st
The City of Sacramento has sent an email update to residents, notifying them of an increase in parking fees for electric vehicles (EVs) that were previously receiving a 50% discount. A screenshot of the email is attached below.
All EV owners who had been receiving the 50% annual discount will now be required to submit documentation proving they qualify as low-income. Previously, you only needed to prove that you owned an EV to enjoy the discount. The update states:
"Please be advised that effective July 1, 2025, eligibility for the Monthly EV Parking Discount program will require proof of low-income status. If you do not qualify under the established guidelines, you may either convert your monthly parking account to the full regular rate or cancel your parking account.
For existing Monthly EV accounts, the 50% discount will be honored through July 2025. One of the options above must be completed prior to August 2025."
Standard Monthly rates for garages are as follows:
- Capitol: $200
- City Hall: $200
- Memorial: $150
- Old Sacramento: $135
- Tower: $145
For example, if you were previously paying $100 per month (or $1,200 per year), you will now pay $200 per month (or $2,400 per year)—an increase of $1,200 annually.
