Ameren Update on Supplier Charge Price Increase in June
Ameren has sent an email update to customers notifying them of a Supplier Charge price increase from June through September 2025. A screenshot of the update is attached below.
An email from Ameren Illinois, shared by one of the affected consumers, shows that the Supplier Charge is set to increase from $0.00223 to $0.04671 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) starting in June.
Here is a message from Ameren regarding the increase:
"As a result of higher summer electric capacity prices, the supplier charge on your bill will increase from $0.00223 to $0.04671 per kWh from June through September. Since this charge applies to all usage and doesn't vary by hour, its overall impact is based on your total energy usage. Therefore, managing your overall usage can help reduce the impact of the increase during this time. We are committed to ensuring you have access to resources to help you continue to manage and lower your energy costs."
The Supplier Charge is expected to decrease in October.
Most of the revenue from this price increase will go to large power generators—companies that own power plants and sell electricity to utilities like Ameren.
