Pimax Update on Prime Subscription becoming One-time Payment
Pimax has posted an update notifying Prime subscribers that they will be replacing the subscription-based pricing with a one-time payment model. A screenshot of the update and further explanation is available below.
Starting June 19, 2025, the 24-month payment option for Prime will no longer be available. This means that customers will be required to make a one-time payment for the following devices: Crystal Light, Crystal Super, Dream Air, and Dream Air SE.
Current Device Pricing
Device | Upfront Payment (USD) | Prime Membership Fee (USD) | Total Payment (USD) |
---|---|---|---|
Pimax Crystal Super | $799 | $988 | $1,787 |
Pimax Crystal Light | $599 | $288 | $887 |
Dream Air SE | $599 | $300 | $899 |
Although there is no significant price difference between the one-time payment and the 24-month payment model, the change has received mixed reactions from customers. Supporters of the 24-month plan argue that the devices will become unaffordable under the new model. On the other hand, proponents of the one-time payment believe the term "subscription" was misleading, as it essentially functioned as a "buy now, pay later" scheme.
Pimax says that the 24-month option is being removed because most users did not utilize it. Additionally, they noted that removing the subscription reduces the risk of customers purchasing second-hand devices that haven’t fully completed their 24-month payment.
If you have already placed an order or are still within the 14-day trial period, Pimax says you can contact customer support to request the 24-month payment option.
