Starbucks has updated its pricing structure, which will see a price increase for customizing beverages. Below is a screenshot of Starbucks' email reply about the changes.

Starbucks Update on Price Increase for Extra Syrup or Sauce

Any syrup or sauce—such as caramel, vanilla, or hazelnut—will now incur a charge of 80 cents, regardless of the number of pumps. Extra matcha powder will cost $1 per scoop, and dried fruit inclusions, like berries, are now 50 cents per scoop.

Classic syrup will now be offered free of charge, and customers ordering pre-flavored drinks, like a Mocha Frappuccino, will be able to swap or add a syrup without paying extra.

Here is what Starbucks had to say while responding to an inquiry sent by a customer about the changes;

"I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way regarding the prices. I understand your concern and that you wanted to share this. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I'll be more than happy to help you.

Starbucks beverage prices are based on a standard recipe, any customizations that are not part of the standard recipe will incur a small surcharge. Examples of beverage customizations could include added flavors, alternative milk, and additional shots of espresso.

Please be advised that we periodically evaluate and make changes to beverage and food prices in selected markets. These changes are made to better align with the costs of doing business on a store-by-store basis.

In addition, be aware that prices of goods vary across the country. It may be possible to see price differences between stores within close proximity of one another and between company-operated and Licensed Stores."

You should expect the same response if you email them about the changes
